JINJA - Kyabyazinga William Gabula Nadiope IV has hosted Buganda Kingdom's prime minister Charles Peter Mayiga and some ministers from Mengo (seat of Buganda) who paid a courtesy call on him in his Busoga Kingdom.
The meeting took place earlier today, (Friday, October 4th) at the Kyabazinga Palace at Igenge.
Mayiga who is on a three-day visit in Busoga is expected to meet youth leaders of various Nkoba za Mbogo associations and Baganda who reside and work in Busoga.
He was welcomed by Baganda youth at the Source of the Nile Bridge which marks the boundary between Busoga and Buganda and briefly addressed them.
Mayiga arrived at Kyabazinga's Igenge Palace at 12:00pm and was welcomed by Busoga Kingdom premier Dr. Joseph Muvawala who ushered him inside the Palace.
Muvawala was in company of Busoga Kingdom Ministers Owek Yudaya Nabirye (Kyabazinga Affairs), James Mukembo (Youth), Nasabu Nantale (State for Education), Busoga Kingdom's Permanent Secretary Godfrey Ssajjabi and David Agha Isabirye (State for Information) and also Member of Parliament for Jinja Northern Division.
The Mengo group were ushered into the Palace's main lounge where they were received by His Majesty William Gabula Nadiope IV.
After a few minutes, Kyabazinga had a private meeting with Mayiga in one of the boardrooms inside the Palace and later he hosted his guests to lunch.

In his remarks, Kyabazinga Nadiope IV said that during their private meeting, they discussed several issues, among others which included collaboration to foster development in Busoga, Buganda and Uganda as a whole.
“This is a historical day in Busoga because we have hosted the Kattikiro of Buganda here at Igenge Palace, and I express gratitude to him and his delegation for paying a courtesy call to me,” Kyabazinga said.
The monarch further appreciated the support that the Buganda Kingdom accorded to him towards his successful Royal Wedding on November 18th, 2023 at Christ Cathedral Bugembe, Jinja City.
Nadiope IV noted that through Busoga’s strong bond with the Buganda Kingdom, they are going to initiate development programs in both kingdoms in order to promote transformation and prosperity among subjects.
“We shall also initiate programs in various sectors like Tourism, Education, Health, culture and sports among others in both kingdoms for subjects to benefit from them,” Kyabazinga said.
Kyabazinga further expressed gratitude to the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi for his wise counsel and advice to him on issues of development and promoting culture.

Mayiga said that Buganda and Busoga Kingdom are like twins and have a lot of things to learn from each other and requested Basoga to continue working with Baganda in order to foster unity and strengthen the bond between the two Kingdoms.
He noted that the two Kingdoms have a strong bondage through shared norms and cultures.
“We are in the final stages of the Buganda Masaza Cup football tournament and I know that Busoga Masaza Cup is also on. I request that we should organise a match where champions of the Buganda Masaza Cup will play champions of the Busoga Masaza Cup and this aims at strengthening the bond between Busoga and Buganda,” Mayiga said.
While at the palace, Mayiga donated two books to the Kyabazinga which he said was a package congratulating him upon his Royal Wedding.
Busoga Kingdom’s prime minister Dr. Joseph Muvawala expressed gratitude towards Mayiga and his delegation for paying a courtesy call to Busoga Kingdom and especially to the Kyabazinga of Busoga.

Muvawala later invited Mayiga to dinner at his home in Kivubuka village, Jinja Northern Division in Jinja City.
Israel Kazibwe Kitooke, Buganda Kingdom’s Information Minister said that during the three-day visit will meet various youth under Nkoba za Mbogo associations of various higher institutions and Baganda who stay in Busoga.
Busoga Kingdom’s Minister of State for Information and also Member of Parliament for Jinja Northern Division, David Agha Isabirye, said that Mayiga’s maiden at Kyabazinga’s Igenge palace is a sign of brotherhood, unity and pride among Buganda and Busoga kingdoms.
Kattikiro Mayiga’s delegation included Robert Ssemwanga Buganda’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Israel Kazibwe, Dr Rashid Lukwago a youth representative in the Buganda Lukiiko, Ann Namayanja Kiggudde a female youth representative in the Buganda Lukiiko, Ivan Mukasa, Baka Ssejjengo the chairperson Buganda Youth Council and Adrian Lubyayi the National chairperson of Nkoba za Mbogo.
