Kibuku police officer shot, hit with brick during arrest operation
According to a police report filed by detective corporal Simon Muwanguzi, a team of police officers had moved to arrest a robbery suspect, Zakeri Galandi, when police constable Famau Maishallah Swabiri was attacked.
During the operation, Swabiri attached to the Field Force Unit in Kibuku, was struck on the head with a brick as bullets were fired.

KIBUKU - A police constable was hospitalised after being attacked with a brick and shot at twice during an operation to arrest a robbery suspect in Kibuku District.
According to a police report filed by detective corporal Simon Muwanguzi, a team of police officers had moved to arrest a robbery suspect, Zakeri Galandi, when police constable Famau Maishallah Swabiri was attacked.
Galandi was wanted for robbery and malicious damage under reference number 25/18/07/2026.
According to police, the team of police officers went to Busikwe village, Kibuku Town Council, in the early hours of August 11.

Two bullets also hit Swabiri and he was rushed to Kibuku Health Centre IV for treatment.
Swabiri has since been referred to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital for a CT (Computerised Tomography) scan.
Police opened a case of assaulting a police officer under reference number 02/11/2026, according to Wilfred Kyempasa, the Police Publicist for Bukedi North.
Two suspects, Mathew Magoma and Isma Galani, have been arrested, and four rounds were recovered at the scene. "More inquiries [are] ongoing," said Kyempasa.
