Despite beating UPDF 1-0 on Tuesday night at Lugogo, KCCA FC head coach Abdullah Mubiru feels they didn’t live up to expectations

“We celebrate the three points but are concerned with the performance of the team. We did not perform well, but we anticipated it because it was hard to manage the boys in these few days after a good show against a big team (SC Villa). We also faced different opponents since they were so hard and aggressive and it kind of challenged us. UPDF's strategy forced us to play the way we played since they were aggressive. They used a lot of force and it became hard to manage,” he stated.

KCCA has now gone eight consecutive games unbeaten, winning seven and drawing the other.

Muhammad Shaban scored from a controversial spot kick to take his tally to 16 goals. The result saw KCCA move fourth with 45 points.

Goalkeeper Mutwalib Mugolofa who joined the club on a six-month deal made his debut against UPDF, he managed to make several saves, and he earned the praises of Mubiru.

“I’m so happy with him and it's a good start for him. He was confident and displayed good tactics while starting the attack. He saved difficult moments that could have been a goal and we are not demanding from him,” Mubiru reasoned.

For UPDF, the defeat saw them remain bottom (21 points) and in contention of being relegated at the end of this season.

However, coach Pius Ngabo believes their last three games will have to be played as final if they want to survive.

“We have failed to get results at Lugogo although we prepared well. However, football is like that. They tried to dominate us in the first half but also managed to create some chances although we failed to take them away. We still have some three games to go and I think we shall get results.  When a team is in the situation we are in, everyone wants to put in a lot. There is no easy game and we are going to handle each as it comes,” he stressed out.
