Kawempe Muslim Ladies will be crowned champions of the FUFA Women Super League this Sunday if they avoid defeat against Kampala Queens at the Kawempe Valley grounds in the final match of the season.

The Muslim Ladies lead the table standings with 37 points, just one point above second-placed, and defending champions the Queens of Soccer who are on 36 points. This means that it is a must-win for the Kampala side if they want to retain the title.

Kawempe is hunting for the first league title in six years, which they last won in 2018 whereas Kampala Queens are aiming to become the second team to defend the league title, the first team being Kawempe themselves who won it for a record straight four times before UCU Lady Cardinals ended their reign in 2019.

Kampala Queens come into Sunday’s match in good form after winning their last three matches with so much authority and command scoring nine goals while conceding only two while Kawempe in the same number of games, managed to win two and lost one.

The Queens might be flying at the moment but they don’t have a good record when it comes to playing against Kawempe, they have only two wins in the last 10 meetings. The Muslim Ladies have been victorious on seven occasions, only once have they shared spoils.

Last season when Kampala Queens were on the brink of going unbeaten, it was Kawempe who put a stop to that run by beating them 1-0 through Agnes Nabukenya.

Nabukenya enjoys tormenting Kampala Queens whenever she meets them, earlier this season in the reverse fixture at Lugogo, she scored a brace to earn Kawempe a deserved 2-0 victory.

Hadijah Nandago, Samalie Nakacwa, and Rhodah Nanziri are the other players to join Nabukenya in search of goals for Kawempe.

Shamirah Nalugya, Anita Namata, and Catherine Nagadya have been in the goals lately for Kampala Queens, they will need to replicate the same form on Sunday.

Charles Ayiekoh, the head coach of Kampala Queens is searching for his Women’s League title whereas Ayub Khalifah Kiyingi is looking forward to adding a fifth title to his CV having won all of Kawempe’s four titles.

If Kawempe goes ahead and wins this season, it will be their first FUFA Women's Super League, because all the previous four they won, it was still called the FUFA Women Elite League.

Since the change of name and rebranding in 2019, it has been won by Lady Doves in 2021, She Corporate in 2022, and Kampala Queens in 2023.

The 2019/20 season was cancelled because of Covid 19.
