Kasolo receives credentials from Korean Ambassador, WFP country director
The acting minister of foreign affairs, Haruna Kasolo, has received Letters of Credence from the new Republic of Korea’s Ambassador to Uganda, Lee Sang-ho, and the new WFP Representative & Country Director in Uganda, Ms Wanja Kaaria, in Kampala.

The acting minister of foreign affairs, Haruna Kasolo, has received copies of the Letters of Credence from Lee Sang-ho, ambassador-designate of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Uganda.
During the engagement at his office in Kampala on July 7, Kasolo congratulated Ambassador Lee on his appointment and reiterated Uganda’s commitment to further strengthening the cordial bilateral relations between the two countries.
A release from his office states that the minister expressed Uganda’s interest in enhancing its diplomatic engagement in the Republic of Korea with a view to deepening cooperation in political, economic, and socio-cultural spheres.

Ambassador Lee conveyed his appreciation for the warm welcome extended to him and conveyed his eagerness to assume duty in Uganda. He underscored his commitment to further consolidate the longstanding friendship between Uganda and the Republic of Korea, with particular focus on advancing cooperation in agriculture, trade, investment, and education.
Both sides reaffirmed their mutual commitment to deepening bilateral ties and to exploring avenues for mutually beneficial partnership.
In a related engagement, on Tuesday, Kasolo received Letters of Credence from Ms Wanja Kaaria, the new Country Director of the World Food Programme (WFP) to the Republic of Uganda, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting also took place at the minister's office in Kampala. A release from the ministry states that while welcoming Kaaria, the minister reiterated Uganda’s commitment to working closely with WFP to advance food security and sustainable development. He noted that the prevailing peace and stability in Uganda, under the stewardship of President Yoweri Museveni, continues to provide a conducive environment for agricultural productivity and the promotion of regional food security.

Ms Kaaria reaffirmed WFP’s commitment to further strengthening its partnership with the Government of Uganda.
She highlighted areas of cooperation including increased local food procurement, support to smallholder farmers, expansion of school feeding programmes, and initiatives geared towards enhancing food security and building community resilience. She further observed that Uganda’s year-round agricultural production positions the country as a dependable food basket for the region.
Both sides expressed their mutual commitment to deepening collaboration for the benefit of vulnerable communities.
