The Kamwenge Chief Magistrate’s Court has remanded a 30-year-old man to Kamwenge Government Prison after declining his bail application over allegations of impersonating an advocate and presenting forged legal documents.

Darius Ninsiima, a resident of Nsorora Cell in Kamwenge Town Council, appeared before Chief Magistrate Her Worship Atim Harriet Okello on Wednesday, June 17, following his arrest two days earlier on June 15, 2026.

Two counts of uttering false documents

According to the charge sheet read in court, Ninsiima faces two counts of allegedly uttering false documents. Prosecution claims he presented fake bail papers in an attempt to secure the release of suspects, while posing as a licensed lawyer.

The court denied him bail on grounds that the matter involves serious allegations of fraud and impersonation, and that investigations are still ongoing. He was remanded until the next hearing date to allow police and court officials more time to gather evidence.

Warning against legal impersonation

Magistrate Okello cautioned the public against engaging individuals who claim to offer legal services without proper accreditation.

She stressed that impersonating an advocate is a criminal offense that undermines the integrity of the justice system and exposes unsuspecting clients to financial loss and legal jeopardy.

Court officials noted that the case highlights growing concerns about quack lawyers operating in upcountry districts, often targeting litigants unfamiliar with court procedures.

Next hearing

Ninsiima will remain on remand as investigations continue. The prosecution said it is working with the Uganda Law Society and court registries to verify the authenticity of the documents and establish whether more victims are involved.
