Kalaki District has rolled out routine road maintenance and rehabilitation works worth over sh432 million aimed at improving transport, trade, and access to essential services across the district.
The works cover four key roads, including the 7-kilometre Kakure–Otuboi Road at sh80 million, the 8-kilometre Osikai–Abalang Road at sh100 million, the 3.5-kilometre Lwala–Apele Road at sh40 million, and a 300-metre low-cost sealing section on the Kalaki–Otuboi Road costing sh212.05 million.

He explains that the works include road opening, grading, spot marraming, and drainage improvement under the government’s sh1 billion annual road maintenance grant to districts.
Olaboro adds that improving the road network remains a priority, especially for rural communities that rely heavily on roads for market access during rainy seasons.

He further notes that the 300-metre low-cost sealing on the Kalaki–Otuboi Road is progressing well and will improve mobility within Kalaki Town Council, as part of efforts to gradually upgrade key roads to paved standards.
