The king of Buganda, Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, earlier today (Tuesday, October 22) inspected land around Kaazi camping site in Wakiso district which is at the centre of ownership dispute.
Kabaka’s public appearance thrilled the residents of Busabaala and Kaazi plus the general public who have since redistributed the photos released by Buganda kingdom. Some who got wind of his presence in the area, shared photographs and videos of his convoy including his official vehicle bearing his emblem.

The motive of Kabaka's afternoon inspection of the Kaazi grounds was, however, overshadowed by messages of best wishes mainly from Buganda region since this was one of the few occasions that Kabaka Mutebi's photographs have been circulated since he returned from a medical trip to Namibia.
Apart from the photographs released by the palace upon his return at Entebbe International Airport on July 22, Mutebi II was also photographed last month while touring Mengo Palace in Kampala.
Close sources said the medics had recommended a break from office routine. On August 21, 2023, Kabaka officiated at the opening of the 31st sitting of the Buganda Lukiiko.
Inspecting Kaazi land:
Bugaya flanked by Ashraf Kizito, the Executive Secretary of Uganda Scouts and Guides Association, and several other Mengo officials guided Kabaka around the grounds.
According to Bugaya, the Kingdom in 1948 allocated the Scouts and Guides Association chunks of land in Kazi for purposes of scouting and camping, but recently they violated the terms of the lease.
“Kabaka has been monitoring all the happenings in the area, that’s why he decided to visit it. This is a very good development since it will provide a solution to the controversy. The land must be used for its original purpose,” said Israel Kazibwe, Minister of information and spokesperson of Buganda Kingdom.
According to the sources from Buganda Land Board, about 50 acres including a forest had been wrongfully sold to private developers.
According to Bugaya, Buganda Land Board petitioned the commissioner land registration to cancel the tittles that had been made by the scouts to different land developers.
On August 14, 2024, the Commissioner land registration cancelled the 11 titles that been made on this land located on Kyadondo block 273 plot 5.
The cancellation of these land titles was met with a lot of attention from the general public and some government officials yet it was done to avert the insecurity the chaos that has characterized the land from the start of this year.
One of the sub-leases cancelled, involved the one granted to Serena Heights Kaazi Ventures Ltd, Sky and Lakes Ltd that they were not issued in accordance with the law.
The commissioner also held that these titles and others on this land are liable to be cancelled for having been issued in error, given that no consent was obtained from the lessor prior to creation of sub-leases over this land.
