KASESE - Police in Kasese District are investigating a fatal road crash that claimed the life of a juvenile motorcyclist after an alleged abrupt U-turn along the Kasese–Fort Portal highway.

The victim, identified as Faruku Birungi, died instantly after his motorcycle collided with a Toyota Corona at Kinyamwenge in Hima Township.

According to Rwenzori East Regional Police spokesperson Elly Maate, preliminary investigations indicate that the juvenile attempted to make a sudden U-turn in the middle of the road before being struck by the oncoming vehicle, which was being driven by Francis Gumisiriza.

Traffic officers visited the scene, documented evidence and conveyed the body to Kasese Municipal Mortuary for postmortem examination.

Both the motorcycle and the motor vehicle were impounded pending inspection.

Police have reminded parents and guardians that children should not be allowed to ride motorcycles or drive vehicles because they lack the judgment and experience necessary to make safe decisions on public roads. Investigations into the crash are continuing.
