NAKAPIRIPIRT - Joint security forces have recovered three cows tracked to a conservation area in Nakapiripirit District.
The cows were allegedly stolen from a farmer in Kween District.
The cattle belonging to Adolphus Kissa, 60, a peasant farmer from Aryowet Village, Ngenge sub-county, Kween District, were reportedly stolen by four suspected Karimojong warriors armed with bows and arrows.
According to the public relations office of the Mt Moroto Regional Police and Anti-Stock Theft Unit(ASTU), the theft of the three cattle was reported on October 6, 2026, at Ngenge ASTU Detachment.
Following the report, a joint team comprising ASTU personnel from Ngenge Detach and Uganda People's Defence Forces soldiers from Lomorunyangae Army Detach launched a tracking operation.
The team followed the cattle hoofmarks to the conservation area near Lukuye Dam in Kawach Sub-county, Nakapiripirit, where all three animals were recovered.
The cattle were secured at Lomorunyangae Army Detach and are expected to be driven to Amaler Army Detach pending handover to their rightful owner.
The security forces commended the community for providing timely information and supporting the operation, which led to the recovery.
Efforts to identify and apprehend the suspects are ongoing.
