JINJA – It's ironic, isn't it, that a person mandated to maintain and ensure peace in the community can be involved in crime, especially involving his family?

Well, that is exactly what has happened in Jinja district-based Kakira community, where the Kiira region Police have in their custody the Kakira town council Gombolola Internal Security Officer (GISO). The GISO is accused of causing losses of properties and arson of a vehicle belonging to his brother’s family.

Tadeo Yuda, 40, was arrested in connection with the arson of a Toyota Ractis UBT 722L belonging to the wife of his brother, Innocent Ngaya.

The two brothers, both residents of Kakira town council in Jinja district, are neighbours.

Kiira Police regional spokesperson James Mubi told New Vision Online on February 11, 2026, that the incident occurred the same day at about 2:30am at Ngaya's home.

“Upon Police getting information about the incident, we responded very fast together with the help of a Police sniffer dog that led detectives to the suspect's sitting room, prompting GISO's immediate arrest,” Mubi said.

Mubi wondered why the head and custodian of security at the Gomboloa level would be involved in such malicious activities that led to the destruction of property.

“We are now processing his file, and he will be arraigned in courts of law,” he said.

He noted that preliminary investigations indicate that the duo have been having on-and-off family wrangles coupled with political differences stemming from the recently concluded general elections.

According to Mubi, the GISO and his brother supported different candidates in the recently concluded Butembe constituency Member of Parliament seat race.

On a separate incident, the GISO has been reporting on Police bond following an ongoing case file of malicious damage to church property in Wairaka, Jinja district.

Prosecution-guided investigations are ongoing, and regular updates on the status of the matter will appropriately be communicated.
