Janet Museveni graces opening of new Bible House

First Lady Janet Museveni, also the Minister of Education and Sports, graced the official opening of the new Bible House on Bombo Road in Kampala city as the chief guest.

The event was attended by prominent church leaders, including Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Samuel Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu and Metropolitan Jeronymos Muzeeyi, leader of the Orthodox Church in Uganda.

Government officials, such as Minister of Energy and Mineral Development Ruth Nankabirwa and Finance Minister Matia Kasaija, also attended, alongside representatives from the government and members of the Bible society.

Background

The construction of the new Bible House started on November 24, 2018, during the celebration of 50 years of the Bible Society of Uganda.

During the golden jubilee fete which took place at the organisation’s headquarters on Bombo Road in Kampala, the stakeholders, led by Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga (RIP), broke the ground for the proposed New Bible House.

Construction works officially started on September 1, 2021.
