President Yoweri Museveni, along with government officials, religious leaders, and faithful from all over Uganda, gathered on Friday at State House Entebbe for a thanksgiving prayer service, offering praise to God for what they described as a year of protection, peace, and national progress.
The event, marked by solemn prayers and reflection, centred on gratitude to God for sustaining the country through political, social, and economic challenges.

Speakers emphasised that the nation’s stability and achievements were owed not merely to human effort, but to divine guidance.
“We have so much to give thanks for because God has done mighty things in our midst this year. We have experienced His hand of mercy shielding us from the plans of the evil one,” the First Lady Janet Museveni said in her closing prayer.

The Archbishop of Uganda, Rev. Dr Stephen Kaziimba, highlighted the importance of maintaining peace as the country’s greatest blessing and called on all citizens to do right even when no one is watching.
He thanked God for the calm environment, which she said was a gift from God that allows citizens to live, work, and worship freely.

The gathering also gave thanks for Uganda’s natural wealth, including fertile land, minerals, oil and gas, and wildlife, describing them as divine provisions that continue to drive economic growth.
The prayer included gratitude for children, young people, sports achievements, civil servants, security forces, and ongoing government programmes aimed at lifting Ugandans out of poverty.
As the country moves toward the 2026 elections, speakers said the moment required humility, unity, and continued reliance on God’s guidance.

The congregation also reflected on Uganda’s historical journey, from war, political upheaval, and the HIV/AIDS crisis to the relative stability the country enjoys today, crediting God for delivering the nation from its darkest seasons.
The service ended with a call for national unity and remembrance. “May no Ugandan forget where God has brought us from,” Mrs Museveni said, referencing the biblical reminder in Deuteronomy 8:10-14 to praise God after receiving his blessings.

The event closed with renewed prayers for peace, wisdom, and God’s continued favour upon the nation.
