In a bid to boost education and health service delivery, Hoima District Local Government has commissioned five projects worth over sh650 million.

Hoima deputy resident district commissioner (RDC) Christopher Aine, district chairman Uthuman Mugisha, and members of the District Executive Committee commissioned the projects on April 13, 2026, in the district.

The commissioned projects include the staff quarters at Kiseke Health Centre II in Kitoba. The project, worth sh220 million, was supported by funding from the District Discretionary Equalisation Grant (DDEG) and contracted to LUBRA Contractors.

Other projects include a three-classroom block at Kapapi Primary School in Kapapi sub-county, contracted by Basingo Construction Company for sh177 million; a lined pit latrine at Kigorobya town council market, contracted by Bisoge Enterprise for sh21 million; a two-classroom block at Bukona Primary School in Kisukuma sub-county, contracted by Basingo Construction Company at sh120 million; and a two-classroom block at Kitemba Primary School, contracted by Muda Construction Company at sh112 million.

District chairman Mugisha said the commissioning of the projects is aimed at boosting service delivery to local communities.

He said the district is focusing its efforts on improving the learning environment through the construction of more classrooms, latrine facilities, and the provision of safe water, alongside the recruitment of more teachers.

Deputy RDC Aine commended the district leadership for prioritising the needs of local people. He urged schools to take advantage of the improved infrastructure to boost academic standards and address the high rates of school dropouts.

He added that the government is focused on improving the livelihoods of people through various interventions such as the Parish Development Model programme.

Patrick Nyendwoha, the head teacher of Kapapi Primary School, said the new classroom block has brought significant relief to the school, which has an enrolment of 1,438 pupils this term.

Stephen Mwesigwa Rwamukaga, who represented the Hoima chief administrative officer, urged beneficiaries to maintain the structures in good condition.
