Heroic Police officers get ministerial visit, honoured

Science and innovation minister, Dr Monica Misenero, has this morning (October 21, 2024) paid a courtesy call to Jinja Road Police Station to honour its heroic Police officers. 

The minister, who was in the company of clerics from the Inter-religious Council of Uganda (IRCU), led by Bishop Joshuà Lwere, met Traffic officer, Abdallah Tusiime, who was captured in a viral social media video while controlling the traffic jam.

Police officer Rashid Orishaba, attached to Jinja Road Police Station has also been recognised in the same spirit for braving the heavy rain. He was also captured in a video, which has also been circulating on social media while controlling traffic jam amidst the rain at Spear Motors Junction on Jinja-Kampala road.

Assault case

Charles Makawa, a Police officer also attached to Jinja Road Police station, who also featured in a viral video while being assaulted by a female driver, has also been recognised for his resilience. 

Monica Misenero has apologised to him on behalf of the Government and the public.

Scholarship opportunity

IRCU has also offered Tusiime's first born a scholarship up to the university.

The minister and IRCU also rewarded the officers with an unspecified amount of money through mobile money.
