In an attempt to persuade more bodaboda riders to vote for National Resistance Movement presidential candidate Yoweri Museveni, come the January 15, 2025, General Election, the Stage Ku Stage mobilisation strategy has been extended to Wakiso district.
The same initiative was first launched in the five divisions of Kampala city: Makindye, Nakawa, Kawempe, Rubaga and Central, on Sunday, December 21, at Nakasero Primary School playground and Kawempe Growers, respectively.
The Stage Ku Stage task force is comprised of over 20,000 bodaboda riders tasked with promoting the NRM doctrine and also soliciting support for President Museveni and the party flag-bearers among fellow riders in the Kampala Metropolitan area.
On December 28, 2025, hundreds of bodaboda riders flocked to Nabweru playgrounds in Nansana Municipality, Wakiso district, to attend the launch.

Led by Wakiso district bodaboda chairperson Johnbosco Ssegende, who is also the national secretary of the Bodaboda Union and leaders at stage levels, boda riders queued up in big processions, from Nabweru, traversed via Bunamwaya, Lweza and Kajjansi, all clad in yellow reflector jackets as they cheered NRM slogans.
“We should count ourselves lucky because it's only in Kampala where bodaboda riders operate freely; other cities within the region have already banned them. So, we need to reward President Museveni for that,” Ssegende said, adding that, “We all know President Museveni is the suitable candidate loved by many Ugandans and will win by all means, but ours is to help him increase on his winning margin.”
Additionally, the chairperson for Kampala bodaboda riders, Frank Mawejje, re-echoed the reason why all the boda riders need to vote for Museveni.
“Besides giving us an enabling working environment, the president has supported our SACCOs, fought the criminals who used to hit us with hammers, through the security agencies like the Directorate of Crime Intelligence under Maj. Gen. Christopher Ddamulira, and he recently lowered the charges on driving permits to ensure that every one of us can afford to get one, which is a very unique gesture,” Mawejje said.
Mawejje also commended Maj. Emmanuel Kuteesa, State House Comptroller Jane Barekye and Ddamulira for uplifting their plight in the eyes of the President.
Kuteesa, who is also in charge of mobilisation in the Kampala metropolitan are, further reminded the bodaboda riders to remain focused to ensure the 2026 polls end in peace.
“I know some people will despise you for supporting NRM, but do not mind about them, all we need is victory and which we shall achieve if we remain united and disciplined,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ddamulira told
New Vision Online that the same strategy will spread to Mukono after Wakiso.
As ambassadors of peace, Ddamulira also reminded the bodaboda riders to maintain maximum discipline, so that other sectors could emulate them.
This has come at a time when the NRM Presidential candidate, Yoweri Museveni, is expected to kick off his campaigns in Wakiso, starting with Nansana Municipality on January 6, 2025.
