Gen. Muhoozi assigns ministers Ayebare, Witonze PLU numbers
Among the 182 assigned PLU members are foreign affairs minister Adonia Ayebare (PO 102), internal affairs state minister Juma Witonze (PO 108), and former finance minister Matia Kasaija (PO 119).

The Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) and chairperson of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has appointed and assigned numbers to 182 Patriotic Officers, including two ministers.
Among the 182 assigned PLU members are foreign affairs minister Adonia Ayebare (PO 102), internal affairs state minister Juma Witonze (PO 108), and former finance minister Matia Kasaija (PO 119).
Special presidential assistant for press and mobilisation Faruk Kirunda is number PO 132, while President Museveni’s younger brother Shedrack Nzaire is number PO 100.
PLU General Secretary Twalla Fadil, in statement issued on his X handle account today (August 26) congratulated the appointed members and urged them to serve with diligence and loyalty.
“The CDF and also chairman of PLU, Gen. Kainerugaba, has appointed and signed numbers to 182 Patriotic officers. Among them we have ministers and members of parliament," he said.
Fadil called upon the appointed members to serve the country with unwavering commitment and loyalty.
“In his wisdom, our Chairman (Gen. Kainerugaba) recognises and awards Patriotic Officer numbers through evidence of active participation and promotion of PLU principles. It is, therefore, not awarded for purpose of regional balance but by proven loyalty to mobilisation ability and discipline,” he said.
Fadil explained that the numbers are not assignment, but a recognition of the efforts by the awarded members. "Those whose efforts are visible will always come first, it’s also true that some people who are very active have not been awarded, but I believe they will, it's always a matter of time,” he noted.
PLU is a civic organisation led by Gen. Kainerugaba.
