The Chief of Defence Forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, was honoured at a special dinner reception hosted by his counterpart, Lieutenant General Jules Banza Mwilambwethe, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC), in Kinshasa on Saturday, 21 June.
The event, attended by senior government and military officials, was held in appreciation of Gen. Kainerugaba’s visit and the ongoing collaboration between the two defence forces. Guests expressed their gratitude for his leadership and commitment to regional security.
The evening featured a vibrant performance by a cultural band, which entertained the guests with popular Lingala music.
Notably, the repertoire included songs composed specifically to praise Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, adding a personal and celebratory tone to the occasion.
The dinner followed an earlier meeting at the FARDC headquarters, where Gen. Kainerugaba and Lt Gen. Mwilambwethe led their delegations in reviewing the progress of Operation Shujaa, the joint military offensive against armed groups in eastern DRC.
Earlier on Saturday, Gen. Kainerugaba met with President Félix Tshisekedi at State House.
Their discussions focused on enhancing bilateral security cooperation between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, reaffirming the importance both countries place on military collaboration in promoting peace and stability in the region.
