Uganda's Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, held talks with His Excellency President Félix Tshisekedi at State House in Kinshasa on Saturday evening, marking a significant step in bilateral security cooperation between the neighbouring nations.
The high-level discussions focused on enhancing bilateral collaboration and regional stability.
The Ugandan General met the DRC president a day after meeting with his counterpart, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the DRC (FARDC) at the military headquarters.
These engagements underscore the growing military partnership between Kampala and Kinshasa.
Since its launch in November 2021, the ongoing Operation Shujaa, a joint UPDF-FARDC offensive against the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), has achieved remarkable success in eastern DRC.
The operation has neutralised key rebel strongholds, restored security in previously volatile border areas, enabled the safe return of displaced communities, and revitalised economic activities and social services in liberated zones.
