City Hall court has remanded two game rangers and a businesswoman for defrauding people by promising them jobs at Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA).

The rangers are Dan Kamugisha, 39, a resident of Kanungu district and George Habasa, 41, a ranger attached to Queen Elizabeth National Park Katungulu sector and a resident of Rubirizi district.

The two rangers were charged together with Rosemary Asiimwe, also known as Recheal, a businesswoman and resident of Kirugu village in Rubirizi.

The three appeared before City Hall Senior Principal Magistrate Nicholas Aisu and denied the charges.

Prosecution alleges that the accused persons between May and June 2026 at UWA headquarters in Kololo with intent to defraud obtained sh5m from Justus Akampulira with intent to get him a job at UWA, whereas not.

The charge sheet presented before court by prosecutor Mercy Yamangusho states that the three accused obtained sh5m from David Naturinda by falsely pretending that they would get him a job at UWA.

Others defrauded include Brenda Kabagenyi, Rachel Ainembabazi, Mackson Nuwamanya, Naume Natukunda, Samuel Bitarabeho, Ivan Nkamwesiga, and Chance Amos.

They were defrauded sh5m each with the intent to get them jobs in UWA, whereas not.

The accused persons applied for bail, but prosecution objected, saying they did not have substantial sureties.

Court remanded the accused to Luzira Prison until October 13, 2026, for a ruling on their bail.
