LUWERO - A Police operation in Luwero district has led to the arrest of four suspects and the seizure of large quantities of marijuana during a raid on a processing house in Kalasa Village, Makulubita sub-county.

According to investigators, the suspects were on August 30, 2025, found drying and packaging marijuana harvested from Kapeeka and Makulubita before distribution. One individual managed to escape, while the alleged ringleader, identified as Titus Kigozi, remains at large.

Police said the intelligence-led operation was co-ordinated by the Savannah Flying Squad Unit operatives following tip-offs from residents. All exhibits recovered have been secured at Luwero Police Station as evidence.

Sam Twiineamazima, the Savannah Police region spokesperson, said more arrests are expected.

“This operation targeted an active drug trafficking network. We are actively pursuing the mastermind, and further operations will focus on dismantling cultivation sites in Kapeeka and Makulubita,” he said.

Police have urged residents to continue sharing information on drug activities in their communities, stressing that narcotics fuel wider criminality and pose a public health threat, particularly among young people.

He said the suspects remain in custody pending interrogation, while case files will be forwarded to the Resident State Attorney for review once investigations are complete.
