The Kampala Metropolitan Police said Friday (July 3) they have arrested four suspects and recovered a motor vehicle linked to the aggravated robbery and murder of a motorcycle rider in Prison Village, Bugolobi Parish, Nakawa Division.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the KMP deputy spokesperson, said the four were arrested after Police on June 30, 2026, responded to a report of an unidentified male adult who had been found critically injured along the roadside in Prison Village.
“The victim, believed to be a boda boda rider, had sustained severe head and back injuries consistent with an assault using a blunt object. He succumbed to his injuries shortly after Police arrived at the scene, and his body was conveyed to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem,” he said.
He revealed that subsequent investigations established that the incident was an aggravated robbery and murder in which the suspects used a motor vehicle, registration number UA 522BG, to knock down the victim before robbing him of his motorcycle.
“On July 2, 2026, Police, working with other security agencies, recovered the suspected motor vehicle and the stolen motorcycle and arrested four suspects in connection with the crime. The suspects include Hassan Baziila alias Kiyinji, John Kawadwa, one adult female, and one juvenile. Another motor vehicle, registration number UBR 680Q, was also recovered during the operation,” he added.
Owoyesigyire noted that the suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue to establish the role of each individual and identify any other persons connected to the offense.
“We commend the coordinated efforts of the responding teams that led to the successful arrests and recovery of the exhibits. Further updates will be provided as investigations progress,” he stated.
