Forced out: Pain, anger, loss as Ugandans flee South Africa

“About five men stormed my home on Saturday night. I was raped in turns by three of them as my three-year-old daughter watched. I later on collapsed and passed out. When I woke up, they had thrown me out of my house and literally taken away everything that I owned. I was forced to run away, taking away my two children. I don’t know where their terrified father is, until now,” she said.

KAMPALA - Christine Atugonza, 43, came out of the Uganda Airlines Boeing 737-800 aircraft at 2:45am. She cut a sullen demeanour that was partly driven by the shock.
