EU envoy meets CDF Muhoozi, hails Uganda’s transformation

The outgoing Deputy Ambassador of the European Union to Uganda has praised President Yoweri Museveni’s leadership, noting that the country’s socioeconomic transformation over the last four years has had a tremendous impact on the livelihoods of Ugandans.

Ambassador Guillaume Chartrain made the remarks during a farewell meeting with the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, at the Special Forces Command Headquarters in Entebbe.

During the meeting on Tuesday, July 28, the Ambassador, who has served in Uganda for four years, noted that the growth of Uganda socially and economically has bolstered relations between the EU and Uganda, contributing to growth in economic and political cooperation between the EU and Uganda.

The EU envoy, according to a release from the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs (MoDVA), pledged to continue advocating for strong collaboration between Uganda and the European Union during his next tour of duty.

Gen. Kainerugaba and his guest discussed other bilateral issues pertinent to the relationship between Uganda and the EU.

The CDF who also serves as the Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, while acknowledging the envoy’s observations, said that Uganda and Africa as a whole is rising economically. He added that, like other developed nations, Uganda is taking the right steps along its development trajectory.

He also wished Ambassador Chartrain well in his future assignments.
