Ethiopia’s House Speaker jets in for mentorship awards luncheon

The Speaker of Ethiopia’s House of People’s Representatives, Tagesse Chaffo Dullo, is in Uganda for today's (Thursday) Mentorship Awards luncheon at State House, Entebbe.
Dullo, who will be the keynote speaker, jetted into the country on Wednesday. He was received by his Ugandan counterpart, Anita Among, and senior presidential advisor on special duties, Odrek Rwabwogo at Entebbe International Airport.
Among, who is also the Bukedea Woman MP, was accompanied by Ethiopia’s ambassador to Uganda, Etsegenet Bezabih, and Kasilo County MP, Elijah Okupa.

Thursday's luncheon will be hosted by President Yoweri Museveni and will see elders who have made significant contributions to the development of Uganda receive awards.
It will be themed: Modelling the right behavior for the youth of Africa in the 21st century.
During the ceremony, tributes will also be paid to the late Speaker of Parliament and Omoro County MP, Jacob Oulanyah, for his dedication and commitment to public service.
“We will remember the late Oulanyah at this event and the President will award 20 old people who have served our country and retired well,” Rwabwogo, who is also the chairperson of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development (PACEID), said on social media platform X.
“I thank our youthful team at PACEID who support this work and act closely with me to build a new culture for our society in economy and leadership,” he added.
Justice minister Norbert Mao, who is also the president of the opposition Democratic Party, is also lined up to speak at the event.
