Eight detained in Adjumani over assault and property damage at popular pub

ADJUMANI - Police in Adjumani have arrested eight people in connection with malicious damage and assault at Oasis Dynastic music club on Saturday, August 30, 2025.

Chaos erupted during a music event organized at Oasis Dynastic Music Club, located at Lajopi Gymnasium Cell, Cesia Ward, Adjumani Town Council triggered when the main artist, Ugandan musician Kapeke from Kampala, failed to appear for the scheduled show.

Huge crowds who had paid gate fees became unruly after receiving information about the missing artist. 

Commotion erupted with fans damaging valuable property at the event.

The police spokesperson North West Nile region, Collins Asea, says police officers swiftly responded to disperse the highly charged crowd.

He says the officers used live bullets and tear gas to restore order, adding two police officers sustained injuries from stones thrown by the crowd.

He identified the injured officers as corporal driver Samuel Ojara Samuel and Meri Francis.

Asea said the items damaged during the chaos include: a police patrol vehicle (UP 7673), with the driver’s side window glass and mirror smashed, property belonging to Oasis Dynastic Music Club, including televisions, plastic chairs, crates of beer, bottles, and window glasses were also destroyed.

The Police PRO identified the arrested as Pamela Tracy – Operations Manager, Oasis Dynastic Music Club, Iceta Patrick, Grace Ukusi, Mundua Gloria, Obudra Joel, Andruga Ochora, Unziku Emmanuel and, Igama Steven.

The injured officers have been issued police form three for medical treatment and are reported to be in fair condition.

He says the damaged patrol vehicle remains parked at the central police station in Adjumani pending further inspection.

Asea said investigations have commenced.
