Dr Abiriga killers jailed for 35 years

On December 11, 2023, the deceased's wife, Cherotich, hired a contract killer (Kipsang) for sh2.5m. On December 26, 2023, Kipsang and Namurenge attempted to kill Abiriga, but failed when he awoke and locked the door Cherotich had left open. But the duo later killed the doctor on January 6, 2024. 

Cherotich (right), along with Kipsang (centre) and Namurenge, have been sentenced to 35 years in prison by the Masindi High Court for the murder of the former acting Masindi district health officer, Dr Jino Abiriga. The sentencing took place on Tuesday. (Credit: Yosam Gucwaki)
