Butcher shop owners in Arua city and the suburbs are decrying the low supply of livestock as the festive season gains momentum.

Arua central division veterinary officer Dr Isaac Odongo on Wednesday said the low supply of goats and sheep compared to cattle implies that the price of meat products will increase this festive season.

Swale Abubakar, a butcher at West Nile beef supply, said the price of meat will increase in the coming days leading to the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Abdul Adiga, another butcher, in Arua city, said there is still a low turn up of customers to purchase meat.
