The General Court Martial at Makindye is set to deliver its ruling on the appeal of two senior army officers at the rank of Major on October 27, 2026.
The court, chaired by Brig. Gen. Richard Tukachungurwa on October 13, 2026, informed the appellants, Maj. Onesmus Blackie Orikirizibwa and Maj. Reuben Namanya Muhoozi, who are facing charges arising from personal interest endangering operational efficiency and conduct prejudicial to good order and discipline, that they are to appear before the court again on October 27, 2026, for a rejoinder by their lawyer.
The two Uganda Peoples' Defence Forces senior officers were sentenced to three years and six months by the Division Court Martial at Bombo in 2024, and they appealed to the General Court Martial.
The same court remanded Maj. Gerald Musoke to Kitalya Government Prison up to October 27, 2026, on charges of theft and scandalous conduct by an officer.
Brig. Gen. Tukachungurwa also presided over the case of Capt Emmanuel Okwapa, who was facing charges arising from fraudulent offences and scandalous conduct by an officer, of which the court quashed the conviction and set aside the sentence following his appeal against the Division Court Martial at Bombo.
The same court sentenced Lance Corporal Moses Opolot to eight years' imprisonment at Kitalya Government Prison on charges arising from failure to protect war materials with immediate effect. The court informed him that he has a right to appeal within 14 days from the day of judgement.
