The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has praised the commanders and participants of the Tarehe Sita and Liberation Day parades held in Mubende and Kyotera.
Their outstanding performance has been widely applauded by Ugandans, particularly on social media.
Gen. Kainerugaba lauded the parade participants for their discipline, precision, and professionalism, describing their efforts as a testament to the high standards maintained by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
He underscored that these parades are more than just ceremonial events—they serve as a strong reflection of the UPDF’s military readiness, unity, and steadfast commitment to national security.
Speaking at a luncheon on Monday, February 17, to honour the participants, the CDF highlighted the significance of military drills. He described them as crucial not only for demonstrating the UPDF’s capabilities but also for fostering discipline and cohesion within the forces. Additionally, he noted that such events reinforce national pride and the strength of Uganda’s defence forces.
Beyond recognising the parade participants, Gen. Kainerugaba introduced the newly launched CDF Inter-Forces Drill Competitions, an annual event aimed at refining skills and strengthening teamwork within the UPDF. He encouraged all members of the force to embrace the competition as a valuable opportunity for growth and excellence.
Senior military officials, including Maj. Gen. BD Mugisha, attended the luncheon and expressed appreciation for the improvements in parade organisation and presentation. "The neatness and discipline of the parades are a direct result of Gen. Kainerugaba’s leadership," Maj. Gen. Mugisha remarked.
Col Justus Nsereko, the parade commander from the Air Force, also shared his gratitude, noting the inclusiveness of the recent parades. "Under your leadership, all branches of the UPDF have had the chance to participate, something that was previously limited to our air-related duties," Col Nsereko stated, thanking the CDF for his leadership and for the opportunity to be part of a national display.
This marks the second time Gen. Kainerugaba has hosted parade participants, having previously honoured those involved in last year’s Independence Day celebrations.
