Hundreds of people in Arua participated in this year's edition of the Kabaka Birthday Run, organised by the Buganda Community in Arua City as part of celebrations to mark the 70th birthday of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.

This is the third time the run has been held in Arua, with growing participation—rising from fewer than 150 runners last year to 304 this year.

The event aims to raise funds to support initiatives focused on ending HIV/AIDS by 2030.

Paul Lule, the chairperson of the Buganda community in West Nile, applauded the residents of the region for backing this cause to eliminate AIDS.

While flagging off the 5km and 10km races, Arua Central Division Town Clerk, Maliki Drakuma, urged the public to actively take part in efforts to curb the spread of the virus.

Arua One FM, a subsidiary of Vision Group, partnered with the Buganda community to promote and support the event.

Grace Lekuru, station manager of Arua One FM, said the station's involvement was part of its commitment to corporate social responsibility.

The run was held under the theme: The Fight to End AIDS by 2030, an initiative championed by Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.
