Armed robbery attempt foiled in Matugga, suspects flee

A group of armed robbers were forced to abandon a planned attack in Kigogwa, Matugga, Wakiso district after a swift police response foiled the attempt in the early hours of Sunday.
According to Police, the attempted robbery occurred at around 3:00am on July 13, 2025, when three unidentified thugs, one of whom was armed with an SMG rifle, entered a residence in Kigogwa with the intent to rob.
“They appeared to be targeting a private guard but were unable to locate him. Moments later, they heard the sound of an approaching police vehicle and a quick response squad from Matugga,” read the official report.
The suspects reportedly fled the scene without stealing anything, and no injuries were reported.
Police have since launched a manhunt for the unidentified attackers.
