Uganda Police Force and the leadership of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) are investigating the cause of another fire at Kiteezi landfill near Kampala.
The fire, KCCA sources have confirmed, broke out Tuesday evening (June 17).
Minister Kyofatogabye Kabuye, the Minister of State for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs, was among the first responders by the time this report was filed.
This is the second fire this year at the same place since the major disaster in 2024.
On August 9, 2024, Uganda woke up to a catastrophe at the same site where the landslide, which claimed 35 lives after garbage buried over 50 people alive. Records indicate that 14 were rescued.
