Alur kingdom holds fruitful dialogue with Jonam chiefs

The Alur kingdom on Saturday, February 15, 2025, held a dialogue with a team of Jonam traditional leaders under their umbrella, Kaal Ker Kwaro Jonam (KKKJ).

The cordial engagement took place at the Pakwach Town Council premises in Puvungu chiefdom.

The Alur kingdom team was led by the prime minister, Prince Lawrence Opar Angala Jalsonge, and included the minister of culture and legal affairs, Bob Opio, the minister of lands, production, and natural resources, John Pascal Wapokrwa, and the cabinet secretary, Emilio Odongo Wathum.

The Jonam team was led by the chair of Kaal Ker Kwaro Jonam, Rwoth Opar Fred of Panyigoro, and included the secretary general, Rwoth Stanley Ombidi of Ker Kwonga, and the first deputy prime minister,  Okwong Silvius Pawele.

The Jonam traditional leaders welcomed the spirit exhibited by the Ker Alur team in engaging with Kaal Ker Kwaro Jonam, noting that dialogue is key to deepening mutually beneficial relationships.

The Kaal Ker Kwaro Jonam team agreed to work collaboratively with Alur kingdom as development partners in Alurland.

The two teams also agreed to develop a partnership framework that would be key in driving the collaboration between Alur Kingdom and Kaal Ker Kwaro Jonam.

The peoples have much more in common, hence the move to deepen common ground and unity.

Alur kingdom is one of the 17 cultural institutions gazetted and recognised by the Government of Uganda.
