9:10 AM By Patrick Kibirango:
Bishop Moses Banja of Namirembe Diocese has urged Ugandans to avoid engaging in acts of violence, saying they do not lead to anything good. He says that on this day, as people and religious leaders take part in the Way of the Cross, they should not look at it superficially. Instead, they should reflect on its deeper meaning so it can help them examine their own actions.
He has made these remarks at his residence in Namirembe as he prepares to lead the procession.
Banja has been joined by the Bishop of Morobo in neighbouring South Sudan, Dafa Amosa, who is currently here after being displaced by conflict that devastated his region.

On his part, Dafa has explained the dangers of war, drawing from his own personal experiences during his service. He says that rebels caused violence in their area, and they have gone through great challenges.
One time, shortly after he had been consecrated as Bishop of Morobo, he was on his way to conduct a confirmation service when he was attacked by rebels. They pulled him out of the diocesan vehicle, stripped him of his episcopal ring and cross, and took other items, including his Bible, which they burned. Since then, he went through very difficult circumstances until he eventually found his way to Uganda.
Currently, Christians in Uganda are organizing various forms of support to help him return and continue his ministry.
The Way of the Cross procession in Namirembe will begin at the cathedral, pass through Balintuma Road, and end at Old Kampala grounds. It is also expected to reach the Kabaka’s Lake area in Mengo, Mengo Hospital, and Sanyu Babies Home.
