KAPCHORWA - 20 children have been confirmed dead after the bus they travelled on crashed in Kapchorwa on Thursday.
The victims, on an educational trip, are pupils of Kings David Junior School, Ndejje near Kampala.
The institution is a primary school which also operates a nursery section.
Police records indicate that the crash occurred at Chekwatit Village, Kimawa Parish, Kawowo Sub-county, Kapchorwa District, at 10:00pm.
Also confirmed dead is Mr Tadeo Ssekade, the founder and Director of the school.
Michael Kananura, the Traffic Police spokesperson, revealed that the fatal crash involved a bus, registration number UA 108BQ, that was transporting pupils.

Barugahara, the Minister of Local Government, is in the Eastern Region on inspection of the infrastructure, including Government schools and hospitals.
Barugahara and Simon Mulongo, Minister of State for Labour, were among the emergency responders who rushed to the hospital to assess the condition of the victims.

Nine children at Mbale Regional Referral Hospital were in critical condition, according to Barugahara.
“Sixteen other children are receiving treatment at Kaserem Health Centre, three are at Bulambuli Health Centre IV, and the rest at Kapchorwa Hospital,” he stated in a post on social media X.
