Police on Monday, April 13, 2026, said 14 suspects had been arrested in Kiboga district as part of an ongoing crack down on criminal gangs.

Lameck Kigozi, the Wamala Region Police spokesperson, said the suspects were arrested during a joint operation with other security agencies.

"On Saturday, April 11, 2026, police with sister security agencies conducted an intelligence-led operation in Kiboga town council targeting members of a criminal gang code-named scorpions," Kigozi said.

He revealed that the gang has been behind the snatching of phones, bags, and other forms of petty theft in Kiboga town.

"14 members of whom 13 are male adults and one female juvenile were arrested in the operation and confessed to tampering with IMEI numbers of snatched phones before selling them to dealers in Kiboga town," he added.

Kigozi also revealed that two dealers have been arrested based on information obtained from the suspects, adding that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
