ARUA - Vice President Jessica Alupo on Friday (August 21) joined hundreds in Arua City for the groundbreaking ceremony for the Muni University Teaching and Research Hospital.
The facility is expected to strengthen healthcare, medical training and research in West Nile, while reducing the need for patients to travel outside the region for specialised treatment.
Muni University Vice Chancellor Professor Simon Anguma Katrini says the facility will include a Heart Institute and Cancer Institute, providing opportunities for clinical training, teaching and research.

He said the university is also seeking additional land to support its future expansion, including consideration of Barifa Forest.
For Muni University Chancellor, retired Archbishop Henry Luke Orombi, the hospital will help address health challenges in West Nile while creating a platform for research and training of doctors and other health professionals.
The Muni University Teaching and Research Hospital, estimated to cost Sh160 billion, is planned as a university-linked facility combining specialised healthcare with medical education, clinical training and research.
