KAMPALA - The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, has advised the youth and married couples to refrain from engaging in promiscuous behaviors.
The call comes at a time when infidelity and marital unfaithfulness are on the rise, threatening the fabric of society.
“There are some women who are not content with what they have. They spend all the money on buying artificial bums to change God’s designs as if they were created without purpose. This is the reason which has increased fornication among the youth and adultery among the married couples,” Kaziimba says.
The archbishop has also castigated men who, without shame, engage in sexual immorality and adultery while struggling to produce sexes of both boy and girl children in marriage: “You need to be contented in life for you were wonderfully created in God’s image because ingratitude is a sign of being rude to the giver”.
While preaching at the celebration of 30 years of Greenhill Academy Schools existence at Kibuli in Makindye, Kampala on Sunday, April 21, 2024, he asked the youth to live an exemplary life of Jesus Christ who died for their sins.
Marital fidelity is key
Kaziimba emphasized the importance of marital fidelity, stating that it is a fundamental aspect of a healthy and fulfilling relationship that embraces God’s creation warning that individuals who cheat do not only hurt their spouses but also damage their own sense of self-worth and personal integrity.
"Marriage is a sacred institution that requires commitment, trust, and loyalty," Kaziimba said. "When we cheat, we betray the trust that our spouses have placed in us, and we risk losing the love and respect that is essential for a successful marriage."

Role models
Kaziimba also highlighted the negative impact that promiscuity can have on children and families. He pointed out that when parents cheat, they set a bad example for their children, who may grow up with a distorted view of relationships and marriage.
"Our children learn from what they see, and when they see their parents being unfaithful, they may come to believe that it's acceptable to cheat and lie in their own relationships," Kaziimba cautioned. "This can lead to a cycle of dysfunction and heartache that can be difficult to break."
The religious leader also warned that when individuals engage in extramarital affairs, they risk losing their connection with the divine and sacrificing their spiritual well-being.
"God created us to love and honour one another in marriage, not to engage in selfish and destructive behavior," Kaziimba advised. "When we cheat, we turn our backs on God's plan for our lives and risk losing the blessings that come from living according to His will."
Greenhill Academy celebrates 30 years of existence
Greenhill Academy reached the milestone 30 years of serving the community through quality education since 20 pupils opened gates in 1994, according to James Serufusa, a surviving founder among the three who include Gradys Wambuzi and Manet Mdoe.
The school now has nurtured nearly 6000 students across three campuses, spanning kindergarten, primary, and secondary school education, he said.
“We started the school in uniports before we built two campuses, one in Kibuli and another in Buwaate. From its humble beginnings, Greenhill Academy has burgeoned into a thriving education institution,” Serufusa revealed.
Buganda Kingdom second deputy prime minister Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, who is also the chairperson Greenhill Holdings Ltd, commended parents who have turned the school into what it is today.
“Parents have helped us a lot through this journey and this should give us vigor and unfailing determination to push further to greater heights with consistent performance,” he said.
Headteacher Wilberforce Kamengo revealed that Greenhill has been dedicated to providing a nurturing and supportive environment that fosters academic excellence, personal growth, and social responsibility.
Over the years, the academy has grown and evolved to meet the changing needs of its students and the community, but its commitment to excellence has remained unwavering, he boosted.
"We are thrilled to celebrate this major milestone in our history," "Our 30th anniversary is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion of our staff, students, and alumni. We are proud of the impact we've had on the lives of countless young people and their families, and we look forward to continuing our mission of providing exceptional education for years to come."
Greenhill Academy has a long history of innovation and excellence in education. The academy has consistently been recognised for its academic achievements, extracurricular programs, and commitment to character development.
