Celebrated contemporary artistes Kenneth Mugabi, Myko Ouma, and Ssewa Ssewa have united in a call for Ugandans to support their local music scene over others from different regions.

They made the plea during a press conference at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel on May 7  where they were revealed as the headline acts for the inaugural Pride of the Pearl concert.

Set to take place at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel this July, the event is a musical celebration of Uganda's rich cultural heritage.

Promising to embrace the theme of Futuristic African Fusion, the concert aims to showcase the diverse tapestry of Uganda's musical traditions through captivating performances and soul-stirring melodies.

Ouma, a  guitarist and composer, urged Ugandans to embrace their local sounds and music, emphasising that doing so would not only uplift the Ugandan music industry, but also promote and preserve Ugandan culture.

He was supported by Mugabi, known for his soulful vocals and acoustic melodies, and Ssewa Ssewa, a master of the Janzi instrument, who echoed the sentiments of promoting and appreciating Ugandan music to showcase the country's musical talent and heritage.
