For some reason, Gladys Kaaya, finds decorating for Easter more challenging than for Christmas. She struggles to select appropriate décor items to spruce up her three-bedroom home yet Easter is her best time to host.

However, this time round, she has settled for a budget-friendly way and it is already working wonders for her.

“I am bringing in fresh flowers in vases and garlands around the house,” she says.
Kaaya has also changed the curtains, pillow covers, and tablecloths, sticking to yellow, white, and soft pink hues.

“This décor is pocket-friendly because I have used things I have. I only bought materials and curved out the garlands,” she says.

Christine Tendo, an interior designer buys into Kaaya’s plan saying, that Easter décor should be simple and less stressful. Use items you already have and stick to the décor theme you choose. A few touches will go a long way in transforming the entire look of your home.

Simple touches for a festive atmosphere

A festive atmosphere is easy to achieve. Simple decorative pieces can make a huge impact in any room but prioritize the living room and dining where guests will spend most time. Add some potted plants or flowers in vases. You can also spruce the walls with art pieces. Accent furniture transforms a space as well.

When it comes to colour, Tendo says, the Easter season rhymes with bright colors and cheerful decorations in soft pinks, whites, and yellows. But you can also mix in neutral shades like greens and blues using cushions and throws.

Another simple touch is adding a wreath to your front door. It’s a charming way of ushering in your guests.

On the other hand, have you heard about the Easter tree? If you haven’t then, consider putting up one this Easter.

It will take your decoration a notch up, after all, this tree is not common in homes. So, your guests will definitely be blown away. Much as these trees are much smaller than the Christmas ones, they still liven up the living room, dining or kitchen corner.

Most importantly, ensure your house smells good. Use scented candles to fill the home with a sweet fragrance. You can place them in the living room, bathrooms, and toilets.
