THE SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST HOLY BODY & BLOOD OF CHRIST
-First Reading – Deuteronomy 8:2-3, 14b-16a God led Israel through the desert 40 years and fed them manna they didn’t know.
We live not by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
- Responsorial Psalm – Psalm 147:12-15, 19-20; R. Praise the Lord, Jerusalem. Praise God who strengthens your gates and fills you with the finest wheat. He sends His command to the earth and His word runs swiftly.
-Second Reading – 1 Corinthians 10:16-17; The cup of blessing and the bread we break unite us with Christ’s body and blood.
Because there is one bread, we who are many become one body in Him.
-Gospel Acclamation – John 6:51-52 ; Alleluia, alleluia. Jesus is the living bread that came down from heaven.
Whoever eats this bread will live forever.
-Gospel – John 6:51-58; Jesus says His flesh is true food and His blood is true drink for the life of the world. Whoever eats His flesh and drinks His blood has eternal life and will be raised on the last day.
