EIGHTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

First Reading -  Isaiah 55:1-3; God invites everyone to come: “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters... Why spend your money for what is not bread?.  A call to seek the Lord and His everlasting covenant.

Responsorial Psalm; Psalm 145:8-9, 15-18 Response: You open your hand, O Lord, and you satisfy every living thing. A psalm praising God’s kindness, nearness, and care for all.

Second Reading: Romans 8:35, 37-39; Paul: “What will separate us from the love of Christ?” Nothing — neither death nor life, nor anything in all creation — can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.

Gospel: Matthew 14:13-21; The Feeding of the 5,000. Jesus has compassion on the crowd. With 5 loaves and 2 fish He feeds everyone, and 12 baskets of fragments are left over.
