Over 40 members of the Beat Symphony Orchestra have been lined up for the Navio concert scheduled for October 4, 2025, at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

The announcement was made during a press conference on Thursday at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

The lie was that it was the first time a symphony orchestra was going to play with a hip hop artiste in Uganda. Many years ago, Navio performed with the Kampala Symphony Orchestra at the National Theatre during the Bayimba Festival.

Polycarp Kyagulanyi, the music director and conductor for the orchestra, promised a world-class performance. “A catalogue of over 40 songs has been lined up for the concert,” said Navio.

Present at the press conference was Fefe Bussi, who promised a freestyle rap battle with Navio on the day. Mun G, who will also perform, raised eyebrows when he said Navio was a better rapper than him.

This comes a few weeks after Mun G had claimed at a press conference at the same hotel that he was better than all the other Ugandan rappers. Babaluku and Lyrical G also attended the press conference.

Kyagulanyi, the conductor of the Beat Orchestra, is the man behind the Jazz Benefit Concerts, who have performed at various events, including the Kyabazinga wedding and the Maurice Kirya Orchestra in the City.

Daniel Kigozi Jr, the artist better known as Navio, is widely regarded as one of the most prolific rappers in Uganda. Navio has spent nearly 25 years in the industry, and his growth has been phenomenal.

He has performed in cities all over the world, such as Antwerp, Nairobi, London, Boston, Lagos, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Dar es Salaam, Chicago, Johannesburg, Atlanta, Ouagadougou, Berlin, Kigali, Cotonou, and Washington DC.

Despite being a member of the Grammy Recording Academy, KORA & Channel O award winner, among other numerous awards, he has shared booths with hit makers like Burna Boy, Wyclef Jean, Kieth Sweat, Fefe Dobson, Kat Dahlia, R Kelly and a host of African talents like Wizkid, AKA, & Sarkodie.

The Navio concert will be graced by the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa.
