South African rapper Nasty C, real name David Junior Ngcobo, set Kampala ablaze on Friday night as he performed at the Ivyson Tour Live at MOTIV. It was packed to capacity, buzzing with Gen Zs and millennials who have followed his career since his breakout days from Juice Back to SMA and his global hit Said.
Dressed in a sleek, all-black outfit, Nasty C delivered a high-octane performance that kept the crowd on their feet for more than 90 minutes. He performed nearly all his hit songs, mixing them effortlessly with new tracks from the Ivyson Tour. His lyricism was raw.

Despite the sweltering heat and poor ventilation in the warehouse, the energy never dimmed. Not even the discomfort could drive fans out, they stood shoulder-to-shoulder, sweating but smiling.
“Thank you, Uganda, for always showing me so much love,” Nasty C told the roaring crowd midway through his set. “Every time I come here, you guys make me feel at home, I love you so much.”
The show followed the second edition of the Amplify Uganda Music Expo (AUMEX), held earlier during the day at the same venue. The conference, themed “Building a Scalable Future for Ugandan Music,” brought together artists, creators and industry professionals to discuss the evolution of Uganda’s music industry; from royalties and rights to global brand collaborations.
“We believe in the power of creativity to transform lives,” said Denise Nazzinda, Brand Manager for Guinness Smooth. “Through our ‘Make It Yours’ campaign, we’re giving emerging talent the stage, the confidence, and the belief to reimagine what’s possible and make their mark on Uganda’s creative future.”
With flawless sound, lighting, and security, the event was exceptionally produced. The only setback was the intense heat inside the warehouse, which fans good-naturedly joked made the night “too hot to handle literally.”
Several of Uganda’s own hip-hop heavyweights like Navio, Flex D’Paper and Timothy Code were spotted in the crowd. His performance was a masterclass in flow, breath control, and emotional connection.
