The former Dean of Namirembe Cathedral, Venerable Can. Jonathan Kisawuzi Ssalongo is going into retirement with joy.
Christians at the cathedral have given him a vehicle, Ford Ranger Limited (Double Cabin), in appreciation of his exemplary priestly ministry and ecclesial commitment.
The vehicle was handed over to him and his wife Ruth Kisawuzi Nalongo during the Holy Communion Service at the cathedral on Sunday, June 22, 2025.

The reigning Dean of the Cathedral, Canon Dunstan Kiwanuka Mazinga made these interesting remarks about his predecessor. “Canon Jonathan Kisawuzi and Maama Ruth Kisawuzi have served the Church so well during their 35-year-long ministry. We know not of any act of dishonesty from them. We are grateful to God for their commitment to the Gospel.”
Canon Kiwanuka thanked the committee for the thanksgiving gift, headed by Mr. Timothy Mabiriizi and Lady Esther Nsibambi for their dedication and determination.

Canon Kisawuzi and Maama Ruth Kisawuzi expressed heart-rooted gratitude to the Christians of Namirembe Cathedral for considering their ministry impressive and worthy of reward.
Earlier during the service, Canon Kisawuzi delivered a moving homily centered on the Trinitarian grace, love and unity. He put it to the Christians to put in practice the greatest commandment of love. He expressed concern over some Christians who profess to be members of the faith but fail to live out the true Christian disposition.

“A person who has no love for others cannot know God. A true believer must refrain from all satanic habits; anger, hatred, jealousy, indifference, selfishness, and others. As Christians, we must reflect the image of God in everything we do and say. Are we truly united? When we meet as Christians, do we really exercise fellowship? Do we discuss our issues in love and harmony?” Kisawuzi asked.
In his latter remarks, Kisawuzi thanked the Christians of Namirembe Cathedral for establishing and maintaining ecclesia connections with Ugandans living in the diaspora, in particular the UK, and the US. He also thanked them for influencing the improvement of the quality of their worship music.
