Konshens: My love for East Africa goes beyond music

Jamaican dancehall star Konshens has opened up about his strong connection with East Africa, saying the love he receives from fans in Uganda and Kenya goes beyond financial rewards.

The singer, who has performed in Uganda on multiple occasions, addressed questions about his affection for the region in a post on X on Thursday morning, insisting that the relationship is mutual.

According to Konshens, East Africa may not be the region where he earns the most from performances, but it is where he feels the most loved. He also pointed to his long-standing support for East African artistes, citing collaborations and remixes as evidence of his commitment to the region's music scene.

In his post, Konshens mentioned his collaboration with Apass on Gamululu and his involvement in the Backbencher remix by Toxic Lyrikali, as well as the Figa remix associated with Ethic Entertainment. He said some of these remixes were never officially released but reflected his genuine appreciation for the region's talent.

“East Africa don't pay me the most, they LOVE me the Most and I was never ever shy about Loving them right back,” he wrote.

The dancehall star further defended his continued praise of East Africa, saying he has represented the region on major international stages and platforms over the years, rather than only showing appreciation when he is scheduled to perform there.

The Gyal a bubble star will be in Uganda for the umpteenth time in December to perform at the Lugogo Cricket Oval alongside Amapiano star DJ Maphorisa.
