Calls on Christian women (and all Christians in general) to exhibit high Christian standards dominated the annual women’s convention of the Anglican Diocese of Kampala, which took place at All Saints Cathedral Kampala last Friday (January 26th).

The convention’s guest speaker, Rev. Canon Diana Mirembe Nkesiga called upon Christian women to strengthen their conviction and devotion to the faith in order to prevail over the temptations of the modern world.

“Our biggest challenge is that we love God emotionally.  We turn to him only when we are weak. We are obliged to love God with all our mind. God wants us to translate his grace into our relationship with others. We are required to love and respect other people. Many people don’t love because they have not been loved and valued. I got saved because God valued me. And I got to know this from a preacher who assured me God valued me and had a purpose for me.”

Nkesiga took time to remind women of their invincible power and urged them to use it to influence the world.

“We are powerful. We can set the agenda of this nation.  We too can say no to the devil destroying our nation. We can influence action on those that are killing our children. We can set the agenda for our children. Why is the Church not setting the agenda?  she added

The day-long event attracted hundreds of women from the diocese’s various affiliate churches including St. John’s Kamwokya, All Saints Chapel Lweza, St. John’s Chapel Luzira Prison, All Saints Cathedral Kampala, St. Paul Okuvu, St. Andrew’s Bukoto, St. Peter’s Naguru, St. Luke’s Ntinda, St. Paul’s Mulago, St. John’s Makerere, St. Francis Chapel Makerere University, Church of the Resurrection Bugoloobi.
