Bishop Senyimba gets flowery accolades from Anglican Church, Buganda Kingdom

Among those who expressed their admiration of Senyimba is the Kabaka of Buganda, His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, who praised him for his loyalty and dedicated service to the kingdom.

Tributes are continuing to be paid to the Rt. Rev. Prof.  Prince Michael Solomon Ndawula Senyimba, the Bishop Emeritus of the Anglican Diocese of Mukono and former Vice-Chancellor of Ndejje University who died on Tuesday (March 19, 2024) aged 86.

The prelate’s admirers praised him with even deeper appreciation during his memorial service at St. Paul’s Cathedral Namirembe (in Rubaga Division) on Thursday (March 21, 2024).

Kabaka Mutebi paid even deeper gratitude to Senyimba for his immense love and commitment to the preservation and promotion of the Ganda culture. He further praised the Prelate for his selfless service as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Kabaka Foundation. The condolence message of Kabaka Mutebi was delivered by the Speaker of the Great Buganda Lukiiko, the Rt. Hon Patrick Luwaga Mugumbule.

The Executive Director of Kabaka Foundation, Eddie Kaggwa Ndagala attributed the achievements of the organization to Bishop Senyimba’s wise leadership, guidance and financial assistance.

The Ssabalangira of Buganda, Godfrey Musanje marvelled at Bishop Senyimba’s philosophical wisdom, determination and ever-readiness to serve the kingdom. He praised him for his physical, moral and financial contribution to the restoration of the Wamala tombs.

Speaking on behalf of the children, Prince John Kayima praised his father (Bishop Senyimba) for his determination to pursue and achieve his academic aspirations.

The headteacher of King’s College Budo, Canon John Fred Kazibwe described Bishop Senyimba as a true Old Budonian who clearly understood and lived out the school’s values such as academic excellence, integrity, self-respect and respect for others.

The reigning Vice-Chancellor of Ndejje University, Canon Olivia Nassaka Banja praised Bishop Senyimba for his contribution to the development of the university. She attributed the university’s acclaimed competence in the science courses, particularly engineering, agriculture and also its unrivalled sports niche to the visionary leadership and strategic planning skills of Bishop Senyimba.

Anglican Prelates including the Archbishop of the Church of the Province of Uganda, Samuel Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, Bishop Emeritus Samuel Balagadde Ssekadde (Namirembe Diocese), Bishop Emeritus George Sinabulya  (Central Buganda), Bishop Emeritus Elidard Nsubuga (Luweero), Bishop Nathan Ahimbisibwe of South Ankole, Bishop Paul Hannington Suubi (East Busoga diocese), Bishop Hannington Mutebi (Assistant, Kampala Diocese) and Bishop  Moses Banja of Namirembe Diocese (the homilist) all spoke highly of Bishop Senyimba’s dedicated service to the Anglican Church and his commitment to Christian salvation.

Bishop Senyimba’s wife, the Rev. Esther Nagginda Senyimba also paid tribute to the Prelate describing him as a loving and highly responsible husband and father.

Before his elevation to the episcopate, Senyimba was the Dean of Namirembe Cathedral. It was therefore right and just for the Bishop and Christians of Namirembe diocese to bid him farewell with a colourful memorial service at the Cathedral.
