Late August, singer John Blaq claimed that he wrote his hit song Makanika with singer Rema Namakula in mind to feature on it. However, he said he hustled so hard to get them to record the song in vain. John Blaq revealed that he got to the point of showing up at her wedding in late 2019, hoping to meet her in person to no avail.

Sensational singer Joshua Baraka has also revealed that he wrote the song Omukwano, hoping to have Rema on it, but didn’t get the chance to find her to make the offer.

The Nana singer made the remarks as he was being hosted on a local radio station on Wednesday, September 6. He said a chance encounter with Swangz Avenue’s Winnie Nwagi at a city hangout (Kush Lounge) made him change his plans after she warmed up to the idea of recording the song together. When they hit studio, she delivered.

He also added that it was easy because Nwagi is his fan and particularly of his hit song, Nana.

After weeks of teasing, Baraka released the three-minute audio of the song on Thursday, September 7, 2023 loaded with English and Luganda lyrics. It managed 13k views in 24 hours and was trending at number 18 on YouTube.
